Bethany is the founder and owner of Riverbank Willow Birth Services. She was born and raised in the Northern Virginia area and is the mother to two beautiful children, Julian and Emery. Graduating from George Mason University with a Social Work Degree, Bethany began her career working with many population groups including homeless families, domestic violence victims, and at-risk youth. Her passion for advocacy found it's true path when she gave birth to her first child and realized it's role in pregnancy and labor support. She left her career to open her own solo business, originally called "Bagnell Birth Services", where she taught natural childbirth classes out of her home. Since 2016, Bethany has added additional skills to her business by training as a Birth Doula, certifying as a Car Seat Technician, and created her own cloth diapering curriculum. Her Doula practice has also grown as well into a beautiful partnership model with Garland Caldwell.
When Bethany is not attending births and teaching her classes she enjoys spending time with her family and two German Shepherds. Her favorite pastimes include making macrame wall hangings and planning her next big travel adventure.

Garland Caldwell, CD(DONA)
Garland is a DONA-certified birth doula. She witnessed her first birth as a teenager when she attended her sister’s homebirth. She left in awe and amazement and looked forward to the day that she would get to experience labor and childbirth first hand! Now she is a mother to a brilliant little girl named Elspeth who is the light of her life. Her own pregnancy and birth experience sparked a true passion for birth work. She was able to achieve the birth experience of her dreams, and recognizes the important role of support and education that she received throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth. After the birth of her daughter, Garland completed a Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Sociology at James Madison University. Shortly thereafter, she trained with DONA International to become a certified birth doula. Garland is passionate about ensuring consistent and continual support for expecting parents. When she is not attending births or teaching classes, Garland enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, dancing, and learning new things!
